You need an account to publish, save other people’s charts, keep setlists or vouch for a chart. Reading the library needs nothing.

Publishing needs a handle, which is unique and is how your charts are credited. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

When you publish, you accept the contributor licence. In short: the chart stays yours, you let other players see, transpose and print it, and you confirm it is your own transcription.

No lyrics. Chord numbers, structure and cue words — a couple of words to find your place is fine, a verse is not. This is the rule the whole library rests on, and charts that break it are removed.

A chart needs a title before it can be shared, and cannot be published with empty bars in it. Both are checked at the moment you publish.

Each publish is a fixed copy. Editing your draft afterwards changes nothing for readers until you publish again — which is what lets a band rehearse from a chart and get the same one at the gig.

You can unpublish at any time. Bands that have your chart in a setlist keep the version they pinned.

A chart can be put on hold while a report about it is looked at. A hold hides it from the library and cannot be cleared by its author — including by unpublishing and publishing again. That is deliberate: a hold that the subject of a complaint can lift is not a hold.

A chart can also be destroyed outright, which is irreversible and reserved for clear-cut cases such as a valid copyright notice. Accounts that keep drawing complaints are closed.

Chord progressions and functional harmony are on far better footing than lyrics, which is why this site carries no lyrics at all. If material here infringes a copyright you own, the copyright claimpage carries the designated agent’s details and a form. Notices go to the top of the queue and are read by a person.

Charts you published stay published, credited to a closed account, because bands are playing from them. Unpublish anything you want gone before you close, or ask for it to be removed at the same time.

NNScharts is run by one person and is offered as it is. It does not guarantee that it will be available, that a chart is correct, or that a chart is in the key or the arrangement a particular recording used — charts are transcriptions by other musicians, and vouching exists precisely because they vary.

Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose. Charts print, and a setlist prints as a book.

These terms can change. A change that affects what you have already published will be announced rather than quietly applied.
